Associate Lead Pastor
Hello Journey Friends and Family,
The past two weeks have been so special for us as Pastor John, the Elders, and I have been able to share with you the news that we have been preparing literally for years now. If you are not aware of what I am referring to or would like more information on our transition plan and process, I encourage you to go to the following link: journeychristian.com/transition
One of many things that Pastor John and I are aligned on is our heart for the next generation. We believe that we are called to serve them and raise them up as our future leaders. With that being said, this is an exciting week for our Family Ministry as we welcome four new summer interns and two new residents.
You may be wondering, “what is the difference between a summer intern and a resident?”
A Summer Internship is a ten-week internship over the summer for college students that gives them a sneak peek of what working in ministry is all about. Pastor Kevin Monahan says it well when he says, “our summer intern program is meant to elevate or eliminate someone’s call to ministry”. Meaning as they are praying through their potential call to full-time vocational ministry, an internship can help them process that potential calling.
Our Ministry Leadership Residency Program is a two-year program designed for college graduates who already know they are called into ministry. The residency is not meant for everyone. It’s made for leaders looking to be challenged to reach their full potential as a ministry leader. It is a high-level program geared to helping residents grow in their capacity to handle the load and pace of what it means to do ministry full time. We teach residents every aspect of how to lead the ministry at a high level and, at the same time, do so in a healthy way that will prepare them and sustain them to do ministry for the long haul.
Tammy Joseph, our new Director of Family Ministries, has taken on our internship program and is doing an incredible job of leading it.
One of the most significant needs we have for growing the residency and our summer internship program is finding host homes for them. We are currently all set and not looking for any host homes at the moment. However, we will be ushering in one or two new residents in the near future, and I know we are looking to grow our internship program next summer.

With that said, let’s meet our 2022 Summer Interns:
