The Separation of Church and Hate

Unity: Through Jesus, Anything’s Possible

November 8, 2020

  • Everybody’s welcome provides a platform of civility where we are quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry.
  • Nobody’s perfect creates a posture of humility because all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
  • Through Jesus, anything’s possible promotes a plea for unity because people are won to Christ when they see His disciples are one in Christ.“Father the hour has come. Glorify your Son… (John 17:1)

The hour in which God was most glorified, we would have been most horrified.

“I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world. …Holy Father, protect them by the power of Your Name, the Name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are One.” (John 17:11)

“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as You are in me and I am in You. May they also be in Us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.” (John 17:20-21)

Jesus prays that we will practice such unity in the body of Christ that people will believe in the identity of Christ.

People are won to Christ when they see that His disciples are one in Christ.

    Our unity preaches!

“Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:34-35)

“I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one—I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.” (John 17:22-23)

The church will win or lose influence based on our behavior regardless of the outcome.
“I am the Alpha and the Omega who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty!” (Revelation 1:8)

Would you pray like Jesus prayed? “Heavenly Father, make us one so we can influence many.”

“So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” (Galatians 3:26-28)

Every day is election day: Jesus votes for you—Satan votes against you—YOU cast the deciding vote!
