Serve Others Humbly

Journey’s Mission Statement = To make disciples of Jesus who Love God, Love People, and Serve the World.
One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer—at three in the afternoon. (Acts 3:1)
Most of God’s greatest miracles begin with an interruption not a plan.
Now a man who was lame from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg from those going into the temple courts. (Acts 3:2)
When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money. (Acts 3:3)
Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, “Look at us!” So, the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them. Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” (Acts 3:4-6)
Jesus called them together and said, “You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them.” (Mark 10:42)
“Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant.” (Mark 10:43)
“Serving doesn’t make you a follower of Jesus but following Jesus will make you a servant.”—Rick Atchley
“You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another humbly in love.” (Galatians 5:13)
Four ways to shine like stars:
#1 – Be unselfish.
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. (Philippians 2:3) #2 – Be humble.
In humility value others above yourselves. (Philippians 2:3)
#3 – Look out for the needs and interests of others.
Not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. (Philippians 2:4)
When was the last time you served someone that couldn’t pay you back?
#4 – Do everything without complaining or arguing.
Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, ‘children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.’” (Philippians 2:14-15)
Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky. (Philippians 2:15)
