Jesus is the G.O.A.T. of Love

And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ. (Ephesians 3:17-18)

“My children, I will be with you only a little longer. You will look for me, and just as I told the Jews, so I tell you now: Where I am going, you cannot come. A new command I give you: Love one another.  As I have loved you, so you must love one another.  By this, everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:33-35

-Jesus loved with compassion.

“My children, I will be with you only a little longer…” (John 13:33)

Compassion is to understand someone’s suffering and to feel compelled to ease their pain.

When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick. (Matthew 14:14)

“If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.  If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.”  (I Corinthians 13:1-3)

-Jesus’ love had a cost.

“You will look for me, and just as I told the Jews, so I tell you now: Where I am going, you cannot come.” (John 13:33)

Jesus took on the cross because His love for you was greater than His fear of the cross.

-Jesus’ love was a commandment.

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” (John 13:34)

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails…”  (1 Corinthians 13:4-8)

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17)

-Jesus’ love comes with a promise.

“Everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:35)

When you love as God calls us to love, we Shine As One!

-Am I becoming more or less patient?

-Am I becoming more or less kind?

-Am I becoming more envious or more generous?

-Am I becoming more prideful or more encouraging?

-Am I honoring others more?

-Am I self-seeking more than others focused?

-Am I becoming more easily angered?
