Hello Journey Friends and Family,

We are excited for Mother’s Day this weekend as we conclude our series about how to have a healthy family. The myth we will unpack this week is “Perfect families do it all.” The truth is “Healthy families have boundaries.” Moms face a unique pressure of having to do it all, all the time. Thus, we will look at some practical ways we can create healthy boundaries in our lives to give us margin and health. Here is a sneak peek of where we are heading with the message:

We are going to look at Mark 1 and see how Jesus created boundaries because His priority wasn’t to please people. It was to please the Father. Paul echoes the heart of Jesus when he wrote,

“Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.” Galatians 1:10

Because Jesus’ focus was on pleasing the Father, He was able to establish boundaries with people even though it may have disappointed them in the moment.

We look forward to diving into this final message this Mother’s Day weekend, and we’ve got a variety of things happening that I want to highlight for you.

Midweek Conversation

midweek conversation with tammy joseph

If you didn’t know, every Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. Pastor John and I have an unscripted conversation about Journey, life, God, family, and anything else that jumps into our heads and hearts. I especially think you should check out this past week’s Midweek Conversation as we were joined by Tammy Joseph (our Director of Family Ministries). Not only did we discuss all things Family Ministry, but we also had fun laughing and reflecting on the staff softball game we had last week. Click here to watch.

Teacher Appreciation Week

teacher appreciation week

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week and our Family Ministry served eleven schools. When I say they served them, I mean they took them 100’s of handwritten notes of encouragement along with stocking their teachers lounge with goodies and drinks. I love the heart to serve our educators. Thank you, Family Ministry, and thank you to all the teachers and educators. You shape our kids more than you know. Thank you for all you do!

Journey Kids

summer jam

Summer Jam is a high energy 4-day kids camp filled with fun games, worship, and age-appropriate teaching. It is designed for kids that completed kindergarten through 5th grade in the 2021-2022 school year. We will help kids discover that what they do today, can change the world around them! We are so excited to offer Summer Jam in person this year on July 18-21 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The best part is, it’s 100% FREE!

If you are interested in registering a child or serving at Summer Jam, click here to learn more.

Journey Students

student life

We love camp! We believe God uses summer camp to establish spiritual markers that students will remember as they grow in their commitment to follow Jesus. Camp is for all Middle and High School students and will be June 6-10. To learn more about Student Life Camp or to register before space runs out, click here.

I’m loving the Father Pleasing Journey,
