LOVING THE JOURNEY WITH

Easter 2022-Welcome Home

We are less than 48 hours away from what I believe will be the largest in-person worship gathering in over three years at Journey. I’m talking about Easter Sunday, April 17, of course. The theme of Easter 2022 is one that naturally flows out of our current message series on the prodigals. The theme for Easter is simply: Welcome Home.

I believe many people are searching today for a place to belong, maybe like never before. The pandemic did a lot of damage in ways that will take many of us years or a lifetime to deal with, but there is one surprising thing that we are seeing on the other side of it: more new people who haven’t been in church for a long time or maybe ever, are showing up at churches like Journey more than ever before. They are coming week after week and are hungry for a spiritual home.

So, on Easter Sunday, we want to throw the biggest celebration for people coming home to God that we possibly can. What does that look like?

· We send a digital Easter invite card and pray for someone we care about who needs to come home to God

· We offer multiple options for worship at all locations: Apopka campus—8, 9:30, 11AM &12:30PM; Lake County campus—8:30, 10 & 11:30AM; Online at 9:30, 11:00AM & 12:30PM

· We attend a service that may be earlier or later than we normally worship because we want to make room for as many new people coming home as possible at what are expected to be our most full services–which will be 9:30 and 11AM at Apopka; 10AM at Lake County

· We challenge people to go all in on Jesus by going all under in Christian baptism

· We ask new volunteers to step up and serve in mission critical areas such as Next Gen and Connections

Can I suggest that we all do one more thing to prepare for Easter? Would you prayerfully consider giving the most generous offering you have ever given on an Easter Sunday? As we minister to more and more people coming home who have been far from God, we want all our ministries to run at full strength in the weeks and months ahead–but that doesn’t happen automatically. It happens intentionally as we decide to give generously.

There are many ways you can give—online, through the Journey Christian app, by mail, or at a campus offering station—but however you choose to do so, please consider making a generous gift to fuel and fund our mission of making more and deeper disciples of Jesus who love God, love people and serve the world.

Loving the welcome-home Journey,

Pastor John
