Endings and Beginnings

February 28, 2021

…You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and the ends of the earth. (Acts 1:8)

For two whole years Paul stayed there in his own rented house and welcomed all who came to see him. He proclaimed the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ—with all boldness and without hindrance! (Acts 28:30-31)

The book of Acts is the story that has no end.

They arranged to meet Paul on a certain day and came in even larger numbers to the place where he was staying. From morning till evening he explained and declared to them the kingdom of God and tried to convince them about Jesus from the Law of Moses and from the Prophets. (Acts 28:23)

The best commentary on the Bible is the Bible.

-Life is a struggle.
-Death is an adventure.
-History is a masterpiece.
-The gospel can’t be stopped.
-In the end, you only need one thing.

For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time for my departure is near. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. (2 Timothy 4:6-7)

Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. (1 Corinthians 9:24-25)

I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do…For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. (Romans 7:15, 18-19)

What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!… (Romans 7:24-25)

At my first defense, no one came to my support, but everyone deserted me. May it not be held against them. (2 Timothy 4:16)

May it not be held against them. (Acts 7:60)

I was delivered from the lion’s mouth. The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom. (2 Timothy 4:17-18)

God will always rescue me…sometimes from suffering and sometimes through it.

Sometimes God rescues us from death. Sometimes God rescues us through death.

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28)

The Gospel can’t be stopped.

Concerning this sect, it is known to us that it is spoken against everywhere. (Acts 28:22)

The Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved. (Acts 2:47)

The disciples were increasing in number… (Acts 6:1)

The word of God kept on spreading; and the number of the disciples continued to increase… (Acts 6:7) T

he hand of the Lord was with them, and a large number who believed turned to the Lord. (Acts 11:21)

The word of the Lord continued to grow and to be multiplied. (Acts 12:24)

The churches…were increasing in number daily. (Acts 16:5)

All the residents of Asia heard the word of the Lord. (Acts 19:10)

The word of the Lord was growing mightily and prevailing. (Acts 19:20)

This is my gospel, for which I am suffering even to the point of being chained like a criminal. But God’s word is not chained. (2 Timothy 2:8-9)

At my first defense, no one came to my support, but everyone deserted me. May it not be held against them. But the Lord stood at my side and gave me strength… (2 Timothy 4:16-17)

A true friend always does two things: They always let you in and they never let you down.

The one thing that Paul needed more than anything else as he came to the end of his life was friendship with God.

Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one that this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. (John 15:12-14)

Everyone deserted me. (2 Timothy 4:16)
