O, Holy Night
December 19, 2021
There were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.” (Luke 2:8-14)
“Everybody’s welcome, nobody’s perfect, and through Jesus anything is possible.”
We have this treasure in jars of clay so that the all-surpassing power may be demonstrated to be from God and not from us. (2 Corinthians 4:7)
Long lay the world in sin and error pinning; til He appeared and the soul felt it’s worth.
-In Jesus we have a reason for hope.
If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth…If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar… (1 John 1:8-10 NLT)
The Bible uses words like regeneration, new birth, new creation, born again, and spiritual resurrection to describe the heart change that faith in Jesus bring to your soul.
Scripture tells us that sin has two devastating consequences:
1) Sin makes us guilty – The wages of sin is death… (Romans 6:23)
2) Sin makes us spiritually sick – The heart is more deceitful than all else and is desperately sick…” (Jeremiah 17:9 NASB)
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. (John 3:17-18)
Fall on your knees, hear the angel voices, O, night divine when Christ was born.
-Have reverence for God.
In reverence will I come into your house and bow down to your holy temple. (Psalm 5:7)
Truly He taught us to love one another, His law is love and His gospel is peace. -We are to always love one another.
In Christ there is no Jew or Greek, no slave nor free, no male or female, we’re all one in Jesus Christ. (Galatians 3:28)
Dear friends, since God loved us we ought to also love one another. (1 John 4:11)
