How to Revive Your Spiritual Life

Hunger & Thirst For More of God

July 4, 2021

A top reason we aren’t experiencing revival may be because we are content to live without it. We can’t stop a revival, but we can miss it.
Hungry people always get fed.

Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight. Turn my heart toward your statutes and not toward selfish gain. Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to your word. (Psalm 119:35-37)

Elisha was a disciple of Elijah.
When they had crossed, Elijah said to Elisha, “Tell me, what can I do for you before I am taken from you?” “Let me inherit a double portion of your spirit,” Elisha replied. (2 Kings 2:9)

Elisha replied to her, “How can I help you? Tell me, what do you have in your house?” “Your servant has nothing there at all,” she said, “except a small jar of olive oil.” (2 Kings 4:2)

Elisha said, “Go around and ask all your neighbors for empty jars. Don’t ask for just a few. Then go inside and shut the door behind you and your sons. Pour oil into all the jars, and as each is filled, put it to one side.” She left him and shut the door behind her and her sons. They brought the jars to her and she kept pouring. When all the jars were full, she said to her son, “Bring me another one.” But he replied, “There is not a jar left.” Then the oil stopped flowing. She went and told the man of God, and he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debts. You and your sons can live on what is left.” (2 Kings 4:3-7)

We’re not in control of the miracle but we are in control of what we bring to God.

If you bring God a thimble, He’ll fill it up. If you bring God a bucket, He’ll fill it up.

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. (Matthew 6:33)

I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. (Psalm 34:4)

The afflicted will eat and be satisfied; those who seek Him will praise the LORD. (Psalm 22:26 NASB)

I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. (Psalm 119:10)

I have strayed like a lost sheep. Seek your servant, for I have not forgotten your commands. (Psalm 119:176)

With God, it’s not hide and seek, it’s seek and seek.
