An “All In” Win
Last Sunday we wrapped up our Daily Acts study through the New Testament book of Acts with a Baptism Sunday. I often refer to baptism as “going all in on Jesus by going all under in Christian baptism.”
Our pastoral team at Journey thought it would be fitting to see 28 baptisms—one for each day of February and for every chapter of the book of Acts.
What we saw happen was 21 baptisms at Apopka and 3 baptisms at Lake County, but what’s even more impressive about that is there were baptisms at every service at every physical location: 11 at 9:30 and 10 at 11:15 @ Apopka; 1 at 9:30 and 2 at 11:15 @ Lake County.
As a multisite church—one church meeting in multiple locations—it is always a win when we see ministry breakthroughs at ALL locations. So my prayer for Baptism Days lately has been, “Lord, please let us see baptisms at ALL campuses at ALL services.” And that’s exactly what we saw this past Sunday.
But what about our online community? So glad you asked! Obviously, it is much more difficult to see an immediate response to something like baptism online. People can’t just click on a link and be baptized…at least not yet!
But our online community is just as a much a part of Journey as the Apopka and Lake County campuses, so our expectation is that there will be people who will respond to whatever we’re asking people to do in those locations.
On Monday, a call came into our office from someone who is part of our online community–someone who has never been to either of our physical campuses but is faithfully engaging with us online–telling us they want to be baptized. Then the same person calls back on Tuesday and tells us that her mother would also like to be baptized too. Online Pastor Harvey Carpenter is working out the details of getting these two ladies baptized into Christ and it will happen very soon.
So, that makes 26 who have or will be baptized from Baptism Sunday this past week! That also means that there are at least two more people from either our online or onsite environments who we are expecting to hear from that are ready to go all in on Jesus by going all under in Christian baptism.
Is it you?
If it is, reach out right now by contacting us through this link: www.journeychristian.com/baptism.
Don’t delay! As Ananias said to Paul before his baptism, “And, so now, what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized washing away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.”
Our team is ready to help. If you can’t come to us, we’ll come to you. Pastor Harvey is literally taking a baptism pool to the house of the person requesting baptism from our online community. (One of the lady’s being baptized has a physical disability and can’t get to one of our campuses.) We can and will do the same for you if needed.
Why would we do this? Because whether we’re online or onsite we’re always on mission: making disciples of Jesus who love God, love people, and serve the world.
We’ll be waiting to hear from you.
Loving the on mission Journey,
