LOVING THE JOURNEY WITH

Pastor John

Pastor John

As we approach Thanksgiving, I want to tell you one (actually two) of the things I’m most grateful for: our new Lake County Campus pastor and his wife, Russell and Kelly Cushman!

Here’s how Pastor Russell describes his ministry philosophy: Gospel based leadership means leading with love. Speak truth with love. Believe the best. Speak softly and be quick to listen. Build bridges. We build one Kingdom…We have a God-given mandate and responsibility to lead people to use their gifts to build the Kingdom. No one gets left behind or left out, and everyone needs to get developed, supported and equipped.

This past week, I sat down with Pastor Russell for Midweek Conversations. If you haven’t watched it, click here to do so. It’s a great introduction of Russell and an opportunity to hear his heart for ministry.

Also, at our Apopka campus this past Sunday, Pastor Dustin Aagaard and myself had a prayer of commissioning for Russell and Kelly for their new work at Lake County. You can see that brief commissioning prayer by clicking here.

I know you will want to join me in welcoming the Cushman’s to the Journey family. For those at our Lake County campus, I hope you will welcome them in person this Sunday at 9:30 or 11:15am.

Finally, let me express a special word of congratulations and appreciation for Pastor Dustin, who led the search for our new Lake County campus pastor. Dustin left no stone unturned and interviewed several very impressive candidates before choosing Pastor Russell. Pastoral searches are not easy or quick. They are time consuming and often take many unexpected twists and turns. However, I believe at the end of the process, God has blessed with us a special leader and a wonderfully supportive wife. Thanks DA for helping get this across the finish line…and even before the holidays! That makes this a very special Thanksgiving for all of Journey.

Loving the celebrating Journey,

Pastor John
