Life On Mission—Connect
This weekend, I look forward to digging into the first step in our new Life On Mission series: Connect. Last weekend, Pastor Tim Harlow, author of Life On Mission and pastor of one of the fastest growing churches in the USA, Parkview Christian Church, a multisite church in Chicago, introduced us to the big idea of what a Life On Mission means. He asked and helped us answer two basic questions: 1) What business are we in? and 2) How’s business?
The church is in the witness business. (see Acts 1:8) How’s business? With 60% of people in our country making no claim with any affiliated religion, business could be better and Life On Mission is about helping us get better.
Here’s a quick set up for this weekend’s message. Take a look:
This weekend as we seek to actually live on mission, we start with a basic premise: there is no impact without contact…and contact can be messy. We will study Jesus calling of Matthew to be one of his followers, and Matthew’s subsequent response to entering a life on mission with Jesus. Take a look at Luke 5:27-32 to prepare for the weekend.
Cupcakes and Comedy This Friday
It’s not too late to get your tickets for this year’s Cupcakes and Comedy Couples event this Friday, February 17, at 7PM in the Journey Apopka Worship Center.
Comedian Taylor Mason is our comedic special guest, but there are always some fun surprises beyond the main attraction, not to mention some sweets being provided by a great local bakery in Apopka, Aunt Gingibread’s Bakery.
The easiest way to secure your tickets is to click here to purchase, download and print your tickets. You can also show up and purchase tickets at the door this Friday, but only if you don’t need to register for childcare.
Marriages need all the laughter they can get. This event allows you to relax, laugh and enjoy some light moments in community with other couples. Don’t miss this encouraging evening.
Have questions about Journey? Wondering how to get more involved? Ready to take a next step and want us to help? No matter where you are in life and no matter how many times you’ve attended Journey, we want to help you take your next best step.
NEXT is a brief orientation for anyone who is interested in taking a next step at Journey, but don’t know what or how. In our recently completed annual survey, several people indicated they are interested in moving beyond just attending a weekend worship gathering, but aren’t sure what to do next. We want to help you.
NEXT will give you short introduction to our mission, vision, strategy, and areas for involvement.
NEXT will be held on February 26 at 10:45AM in between our Sunday worship gatherings in Adventureland Theater at our Apopka campus, and on March 26 at our Mount Dora campus after the worship gathering. You may click here to sign up for the Apopka campus, or just show up.
