Food for Life is our monthly ministry to the dozens of families who come to us looking for food, prayer, compassion and hope in Jesus. Food for Life meets the same basic needs that the Bread of Life ministry met, but is led and administered by members and volunteers of Journey Christian Church.
Since this ministry is totally a Journey-led and resourced ministry, we need your help. Every Fifth Sunday Weekend will be a collection time for selected items for Food For Life distribution days held on the second Saturday of each month from 7:30AM to 11:30AM.
Listed below are the five main items we will be giving to families who are in need of food. All items are canned, non-perishable items that can be safely stored until needed. The target goal for Food for Life is to resource 160 families each month with enough food to feed a family of four for one week. That’s a big goal, but with God’s blessing and your help, we can do it.
The date for our Fifth Sunday Weekend collection time is July 29/30. These are the items we will be collecting:
- Plastic Jars of Peanut Butter
- Canned Meat (Ham, Chicken, Tuna)
- Cans of Stew, Soup and Chili
- Canned Beans and/or Pork and Beans
- Canned Fruit
Additionally, we are collecting backpacks with school supplies for distribution at our August Food for Life event. Please bring any of the following items on July 29/30:
- 3-ring Binders
- Composition Books
- 24-count Crayons
- Folders (2-pocket with prongs)
- Glue Sticks
- 10-count Colored Markers
- Notebook Paper
- #2 and Colored Pencils
- Baby Wipes
- Dry Erase Marker
- Facial Tissue
- Hand Sanitizer
- Paper Plates
- Paper Lunch Bags
- Paper Towels
- Soft Soap
- Zip Lock Bags
Please fill a bag or two with the above items and bring them to any of our worship gatherings on the weekend of July 29/30.
