Claim Your Circle of Influence
Most people come to Jesus because they have been influenced by someone they know and trust. My parents taught me about Jesus all my life, and they took me to church every time the doors were open. I heard preachers talk about Jesus and Sunday School teachers teach me stories from the Bible.
It’s the same way at Journey. Here, the overwhelming majority of the people that confess Jesus as Lord and are baptized into Christ, are people who have some sort of relationship with someone who worships at Journey.
The influencers that God uses to spread the gospel are parents, co-workers, bosses, friends, neighbors, spouses, kinfolks, etc. We have witnessed the effect of influence time and time again this summer. We’ve seen parents baptizing their children, siblings baptizing siblings, a son baptizing his elderly mother, spouses baptizing spouses, youth workers and pastors baptizing those whom they have studied with and influenced.
All of us have influence. So, I would like to encourage you to claim your circle of influence. By that I mean that you should intentionally claim the territory and the people that God has placed right in front of you. Whether it is your family, friends, neighbors or co-workers, claim them for Jesus. Pray for them, and ask God to open the door for you to share the Good News of the Gospel of God’s grace with them. Just tell them that God loves them, that He’s not mad at them, and that He just wants them to come home to him.
So, What Specifically Should You Do?
You can take a moment right now and write down a list of the people that you know that you have an influence in their lives, and begin praying for every one of them by name to receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Pray that opportunities will open for you to witness and share your faith with them. Ask God to open the door so that they might receive salvation.
You are an influencer!!! So use your influence to the Glory of God. I dare you to claim your circle of influence; you will be amazed at what happens when you do.
Remember, you are the light of the world; you are the salt of the earth; and you my dear brothers and sisters are the aroma of Christ.
I’m loving the Journey with you all,
Pastor Randy Green
However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me — the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace. (Acts 20:24)
